Renowned author Louis L'Amour published the novel CROSSFIRE TRAIL in 1954. The novel was adapted for film by screenwriter, Charles Robert Carner, with input by actor/producer Tom Selleck, who became friends with L'Amour while working on the films THE SHADOW RIDERS ('82) and THE SACKETTS ('79). CROSSFIRE TRAIL premiered on TNT in January, 2001, making it the 25th of L'Amour's works to be translated onto film, including the TNT Original CONAGHER. Selleck — a vocal fan of the western genre — also starred in TNT's top-rated western original LAST STAND AT SABER RIVER ('99,) which was based on the best-selling novel by Elmore Leonard.

"Louis L'Amour was a dear friend of mine. So it was a great honor and a huge responsibility to take on one of Louis' books and insure that everything was the best it could be for the film. I had to keep the spirit of the book alive and try to make the film the way Louis would have wanted. I needed to do his book justice. I think Louis would be very pleased." — Tom Selleck, star and executive producer of LOUIS L'AMOUR'S CROSSFIRE TRAIL
